Kaushaliya Vaghela, the first Indian-born MP in Victoria (Australia) celebrates multiculturalism

This Gujarat born new MP of Victoria (Australia) is proud of her Indian heritage

“... we must celebrate multiculturalism and ensure that people from all traditions are respected, welcomed and valued for their contributions,” Kaushaliya Vaghela announced in her speech in the parliament.

She is proud of her Indian heritage and says unflinchingly,"..I am very proud of Indian Heritage. India has been the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. With Indian culture I am aware of the unique and distinct culture of all religions and communities present in India."

Though Kakushaliya Vaghela had been able to romp to the prestigious parliament in Melbourne she had passed through many upturns in her past life.

She assumed office on 24th of November 2018 and belongs to Labor Party in Australia. She is the first Indian-born to enter the Victorian Parliament that is located in Melbourne, the renowned city for the cricket ground. She was born in Jamnagar, Gujarat and accepted the proposal of Dinesh Chauhan to marry when she was 26 at two conditions. One was she would continue her study and she would go abroad for that. It was really very difficult time for her when she migrated to Australia with her spouse. She even accepted to work as a laboratory assistant in the evening hours there. Moreover, her husband, Dinesh Chauhan tried his skills in driving as a taxi driver to somehow run the family.

We Indians are proud of her and wish she presents an exemplary show of integrity and parliamentary workmanship for upholding respect for pluralism in culture and traditions.
